Get started with website monitoring
Monibot monitors the availability, response time and content of your websites.
Create a website in Monibot
- Log into your Monibot account. If you don't have one, register now, it's free.
- In the main menu, click on the 'Websites' link. Here you'll see a 'New Website' button.
- Click the 'New Website' button and enter the website data:
- The name, for example 'www.mysite.com'. You can chose any name here, it's used only for display.
- The URL, for example 'https://www.mysite.com'. This is the URL Monibot will load.
- A timeout value, for example '30s'. If the website takes longer than this value to return a response, Monibot will consider this website as 'down'.
- Click 'Save'. Your website is now ready and Monibot will check it regularly. When the website becomes unreachable, or takes too long to load, Monibot will notify you.
Advanced options
Monibot can check the content of your website and make sure it does not change without your knowledge.
Content check
Optionally, you can instruct Monibot to check the website content by enabling the 'Website Content Check' option. Monibot will then load the content of the website once, we call this process 'taking a snapshot'. From then on, at each website check, Monibot will check the website content against that snapshot, byte-for-byte, character-for-character. When the content changes, Monibot will notify you.
Keyword check
Optionally, you can instruct Monibot to check the website content for certain keywords. You can specify keywords that MUST be included in the website, as well as keywords that MUST NOT be included. From then on, at each website check, Monibot will check the website content for these keywords. When a keyword does not (or does) appear in the website, Monibot will notify you.
