Towards the end of 2023, we have been busy implementing new features into Monibot. Here's a quick rundown.
Incidents
We have added an 'Incidents' tab for Websites and Certificates. It records all past incidents, with start and end times and a failure reason. This is useful if you want to see what incidents your websites and certificates have had in the past: Failed checks, connection problems, content errors, expiry dates, and so on.
Website Content Check
The content check, which you can use to ensure your website content does not change behind your back, now stores - in the case of changed content, both the expected and the actual content. So you can download both and use your favorite diff tool to see what exactly has changed.
Machines Text
Do you regularly log in to your servers just to check if ps aux
and lastlog
and apt list --upgradable
look fine?
With our new machine text feature, you can send arbitrary text, for example,
the output of these commands, directly to a Monibot machine entry.
So you will always be up-to-date without logging in to your servers manually.
You can send with curl
(see our REST API docs) or
our moni tool.
Website Keyword Check
With our new keyword check, you can now specify required and forbidden keywords for your websites. Monibot will check that all required keywords appear on your website, and it will check that no forbidden keywords appear on your website. This feature is useful to ensure your website does not get hacked or defaced. Right now, we allow three required and three forbidden keywords. If you need more, please tell us. We're always open to our users suggestions.
Certificate Pre-Expiry Notification
Up until now, we notified you five days before a certificate expired. This is configurable now. Five days is still the default, but if you want, you can change this now to anything between one and 30 days. You can even say you want to be notified only if the certificate has already expired, without any pre-expiry notification altogether.
Minor improvements
We have also implemented some minor improvements that you cannot see directly, but you might notice that some pages, especially charts, will load faster than before.
As always, if you are missing any features, don't hesitate to tell us. We're always happy to hear from you and are open to your suggestions.
Last but not least, we wish you a happy new year 2024.
